Role DescriptionThe Part Time Draftsperson will support the design and documentation of residential housing projects for Markel Homes. This on-site role, located in Boulder, CO, involves preparing accurate construction drawings, updating plans based on design changes, and coordinating with designers, project managers, and construction teams to ensure buildable, code‑compliant plans. Day‑to‑day tasks include creating floor plans, elevations, and details; maintaining drawing standards and files;
and revising documents as projects progress. The Draftsperson will also assist with permitting documents, technical specifications, and quality control of drafted materials. This is a full‑time role with a focus on collaboration, precision, and timely delivery of project documents.
- Proficiency in CAD or BIM drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) and strong technical drawing skills.
- Knowledge of residential construction methods, building codes, and architectural standards.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering documents, site plans, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills to handle multiple projects.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with design, construction, and permitting teams.
- Experience in residential or light commercial drafting; familiarity with sustainable design is a plus.
- Certificate, associate degree, or equivalent training in drafting, architecture, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to work on‑site in Boulder, CO and maintain reliable availability for part‑time scheduling.
