Position Profile

The Digital Prepress Specialist supports the accurate evaluation and proofing of customer-supplied artwork to ensure a print-ready product. Responsibilities include supporting preflight, imposition, color management, and working closely with the creative team on various projects. The role requires delivering precise file output of artwork for subsequent processing that meets or exceeds customer specifications. Candidates should have a background in design/print production and an understanding of print production workflows.

• Preflight and prepare files for digital output.
• Produce accurate proofs and develop imposition layouts to meet printing specifications.
• Coordinate color management of files with digital output devices.
• Preflight, layout, and prepare content for customer Web-to-Print catalogs.
• Provide strong customer service to internal and client stakeholders.
• Stay knowledgeable of industry trends, new ideas, and technologies.
• Adhere to legal requirements relating to duplication, printing, software, and fonts.
• Adhere to production schedules and deadlines.
• Review proofs and work with operators on the production of printed material.
• Work with VDP (Variable Data Printing) tools and techniques.
• Asset management and manage document libraries.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

• 4-year college degree in Design preferred or related coursework/certificates or equivalent years of related work experience.
• Expertise with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft products on Mac and PC platforms.
• Proven preflight, design, and layout abilities.
• Minimum of three years of related job experience.
• Print production experience preferred.

• Preflight, design, and imposition skills.
• Ability to use desktop publishing tools, specifically Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Suite.
• Ability to work in a team environment by maintaining positive, productive relationships with co-workers, management, sales, and production departments.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations and be flexible.
• Capacity to perform repetitive work by continuously executing different tasks according to set procedures, sequence, or pace while maintaining quality and output standards.

• Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
• Requires internal contact within the department and with other corporate personnel, and external contact with customers, agencies, vendors, and the general public.
• Work assignments are diversified; past precedent is used to resolve work problems, and new alternatives may be developed to resolve the problem.
• Physical effort is required, such as walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that could weigh up to 50 lbs (e.g., papers, books, files, and small parts).
• Requires moderate dexterity.
• Regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, and eye/hand coordination).
