This position reports directly to the Dean of the College of Mental Health and is a full-time, 12-month tenure-track faculty appointment. The program is primarily online with potential residencies. The Director of Clinical Training (DCT) provides academic and administrative leadership for the practicum and internship components of the Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MCMHC) program, a new program within the College of Mental Health.

The DCT ensures compliance with CACREP standards, state licensure requirements, and institutional policies related to clinical education. This position collaborates closely with the Program Director to develop and maintain high-quality clinical training partnerships, supervisor training, and assessment processes that support student competency and program excellence.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program (required).
  • If the doctorate is from a related field, the individual must have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for at least one full academic year prior to July 1, 2013 (CACREP grandfathering clause).
  • Current clinical counseling license and supervision credential in good standing with the relevant state board.
  • A minimum of three years of post-licensure clinical experience, including direct supervision of counseling students or pre‑licensed counselors.
  • Demonstrated professional counselor identity, including active membership in professional organizations and evidence of scholarly or professional contributions (e.g., presentations, publications, or applied research).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CACREP standards, clinical supervision models, and ethical guidelines for counseling and supervision.
  • Evidence of effective teaching, advising, and supervision at the graduate level.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining clinical partnerships and training site supervisors in accordance with CACREP requirements.
  • Proficiency with digital learning platforms and supervision technologies (e.g., Moodle, Microsoft 365, Zoom, Tevera, or comparable systems).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, administrators, students, site supervisors, and community partners.

PROGRAM LEADERSHIP AND ACCREDITATION
  • Provide oversight and coordination for the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the practicum and internship components of the MCMHC program.
  • Serve as the designated Practicum and Internship Coordinator as required by CACREP.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to ensure alignment between academic coursework and clinical training requirements.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures that ensure compliance with CACREP, SACSCOC, and state licensure standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and annually review the Clinical Training Handbook to ensure inclusion of required content, including definitions, agreements, and evaluation procedures.
  • Contribute data and documentation related to clinical training, practicum, and internship components for CACREP accreditation reports, self‑studies, and site visits.
  • Represent the clinical training component of the program at professional meetings and within external partnerships related to practicum and internship activities.
PRACTICUM AND INTERNSHIP COORDINATION
  • Develop, evaluate, and maintain clinical site partnerships that provide high-quality, supervised learning experiences.
  • Establish and maintain affiliation agreements in collaboration with university administration and legal counsel.
  • Develop and implement procedures for site and supervisor approval, orientation, and ongoing training in accordance with CACREP requirements.
  • Verify that all site supervisors meet program qualification standards, including licensure, professional experience, and supervision training.
  • Engage in regular consultation with site supervisors to monitor student performance and ensure quality supervision.
