This position reports directly to the Dean of the College of Mental Health and is a full-time, 12-month tenure-track faculty appointment. The Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MCMHC) program is a new initiative within the College of Mental Health. The Program Director will serve as a founding leader, guiding the program through development, implementation, and pursuit of CACREP accreditation. The program is primarily online with potential residencies.
The Program Director provides on-site leadership during residencies, graduations, recruitment, and other key program events, and represents the program in university and community settings.
- A doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program.
- A minimum of five years of experience as a full-time faculty member within an accredited counseling program.
- Active clinical counseling licensure in good standing with the relevant state board.
- Demonstrated professional identity as a counselor through membership, credentials, scholarly activity, and professional service.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, course development, advising, and program management in higher education.
- Proficiency in digital communication, academic writing, and technology-enhanced instruction, including Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams), learning management systems (e.g., Moodle or Canvas), and multimedia engagement tools (e.g., Voice Thread or Zoom).
- Ability to function collegially in a team setting and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

- Refine and enhance curriculum, recruitment, and student engagement strategies to ensure academic excellence and relevance.
- Provide strategic leadership for the ongoing development, implementation, and growth of the Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MCMHC) program.
- Lead and manage the CACREP accreditation process, including preparation of self-studies, compliance documentation, and annual reports.
- Collaborate with the Dean in developing and monitoring program budgets, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with university standards and SACSCOC and CACREP requirements.
- Maintain and update the MCMHC Student Handbook, ensuring that all programmatic revisions are reflected across the handbook, website, and catalog.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, and effective problem-solving in administrative decision-making.
- Collaborate effectively with administration, faculty, university divisions, and professional partners to promote program visibility and integrity.
- Represent the MCMHC program within the university’s administrative and governance structure, including meetings, committees, and institutional functions.
- Contribute to annual and five-year strategic planning for the MCMHC program and the College of Mental Health.
- Maintain awareness of licensure requirements across states where students are enrolled to ensure curriculum alignment with professional standards.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of student learning and program outcomes data to meet CACREP and university requirements.
- Use program- and course-level data to evaluate student learning and inform curriculum or assessment revisions.
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of annual CACREP outcomes reports and other institutional assessment documentation.
- Lead continuous quality improvement processes grounded in evidence-based decision-making.
- Provide direct supervision and leadership for MCMHC faculty and adjuncts, fostering collaboration and instructional excellence.
- Conduct regular reviews of online and face-to-face courses to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with accreditation and program standards.
- Recruit, hire, and onboard qualified faculty and adjuncts in coordination with the Dean and university processes.
- Mentor new faculty through structured meetings and guidance on teaching, assessment, and student engagement during their first year.
