Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder Libraries invites collaborative and innovative candidates for a tenure‑track faculty role as the Government Information and Collection Development Librarian. The position serves as the Regional Coordinator for the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) for government documents and leads collection development for State of Colorado government collections, the United Nations Collection, and international government documents. This role collaborates with the government documents community in Colorado, works closely with collection staff to ensure access to the government documents collection, advises selective FDLP libraries on FDLP collection work, and ensures federal policy is followed.

The librarian also provides instruction, reference support, consultations, and outreach for Federal, State, and Local government collections, and stays informed about changes in government information, emerging technologies, and FDLP policy and law.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Regional Depository Coordinator for the FDLP, developing methods of assessing collection access to ensure compliance with library and FDLP policy.
  • Maintain awareness of and respond to changes in FDLP policy, advising library leadership on FDLP agreements and governing law.
  • Develop collection development strategies for state, federal, and international government documents collections to meet the needs of the State of Colorado and the CU community.
  • Lead outreach and coordination of federal document collections across the state, coordinating mandated processes for tangible and electronic depository materials and communicating with the Government Publishing Office.
  • Participate in or lead the Colorado Government Publications Interest Group (GoPIG).
  • Collaborate with the Government Information Collection manager to manage access to physical and digital collections, coordinate the needs and offers procedure, and set cataloging priorities for government information collections.
  • Collaborate with preservation to ensure the longevity and health of government information collections.
  • Serve as the subject liaison for government information and assigned academic departments, responding to reference requests for government information materials, and participating in related instruction.
  • Build and maintain inclusive campus environment, supervise student employees, interns, and volunteers.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, events, social media, exhibits, tours, and other activities for the Collections & Archival Strategy Department.
  • Maintain a sustained record of substantive scholarship and creative work, demonstrating leadership and service.

What We Can Offer

The successful candidate will be appointed as a full‑time (12‑month) tenure‑track faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank. The starting salary range for Assistant Professor is $73,000–$84,000. Qualified candidates may be eligible for Associate or Full Professor ranks with higher salary ranges. Relocation assistance may be available within University Libraries guidelines, and faculty receive limited professional development funds annually.
