Job Summary
The Department of Religious Studies seeks to hire one academic support for Fall 2026 course listed below. These courses vary in credit hours and will be taught as either onsite residential courses or online courses -- in some cases both -- for the entire semester, August, 24, 2026 through December, 11, 2026.
Course Descriptions:
REL-321/REL-535/321e/535e—Kabbalah and Hasidism Emotions (3 Credits)
This course is an in-person hybrid course, which will meet during the Fall 26 semester from August 24, 2026
-December 11, 2026.
A historical-experiential introduction to the history, beliefs, and practices of Kabbalah and Hasidism. The course will explore the historical development of Jewish mysticism in relationship to normative Judaism, looking specifically as the body of teachings grouped conveniently under the term 'Kabbalah,' and the popular movement known as 'Hasidism.' An emphasis will be placed on the contemplative study of texts in translation, contemplative practices from Kabbalah and Hasidism, and the possibilities of spiritual transformation through them.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Monitor and assist in the instruction of classes.
• Coordinate and lead optional groups sessions.
• Support the faculty of record and/or guest teacher, as needed.
• Assist faculty with recording of grades for course assignments.
• Assist faculty with the development of the online course on the CANVAS Learning Management System.
• Assist faculty with preparation and delivery of instruction.
• Provide technological support for CANVAS, Zoom, and email communications.
• Complete any and all faculty and staff trainings as required by the Human Resources Office, the Office of Academic Affairs, or the Office of Information Technology/Distance Learning within the time period set for completion by those departments.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Religious Studies, Yoga Studies, Master of Divinity, or a related field.
• Prior relevant experience may substitute for degree.
• Familiarity with Religious Studies, Yoga Studies, Master of Divinity, contemplative education and specific course content.

Onsite:
Academic Support members spend most of their time in their classrooms or in virtual meetings with some time in offices. In the classrooms and on campus may experience: interruptions, distractions, heat, cold, dust and/or dampness. As a faculty member, you may spend extended periods in front of students and speaking as well as:
• Reading academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.
• Operating personal computer and audio-visual equipment.
• Standing or sitting for hours at a time.
• Moving around campus for classes and meetings.
