Job Summary

The Libraries at CU Boulder are seeking a Library Branches Stacks & Materials Coordinator. This position is within the Materials Management Unit of the Engaged Spaces Department. The coordinator is responsible for stack management of the Business, Earth Sciences & Map, Gemmill, and Music Library collections and works closely with Branch Operations Managers to coordinate missing/long‑missing searches, stack projects (including shifts, dusting, shelf‑reading, assessments, transfers, etc.),

and to analyze stack spaces and design workflows that improve the user environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze stack areas based on Library of Congress shelving rules and determine tasks needed to maintain and improve non‑Norlin locations. Prioritize and work with Branch Operations Managers to assign projects to the unit’s student assistants or make independent decisions when student help is limited.
  • Manage the missing/long‑missing procedure with Branch Operations Managers. Develop timelines and carry out weekly, monthly, and semester‑long list creation and searches. Run and organize lists from FOLIO to manage material flows and coordinate training for students to carry out searches.
  • Problem‑solve item labeling, preservation, or cataloging issues; analyze item records in FOLIO and apply expert knowledge of circulation functions in the Libraries Services Platform. Write and revise processes and procedures to streamline future projects and facilitate collaboration with other Library units.
  • Collaborate with unit, department, division members, and other partners to create and maintain relationships with Branch Operations Managers. Actively participate in relevant meetings, manage recommendations for improvement, and stay current with changes to Library policies and procedures.
  • Support service point staffing expectations by providing support for each non‑Norlin location in some capacity.
  • Serve as a resource for the University Libraries on topics such as materials management and stacks organization/maintenance. Pursue development opportunities related to standard processes, supervise students, serve on Library‑wide groups and task forces, and attend professional webinars or other educational sessions.

What We Can Offer

$52,000 - $56,000. A small relocation stipend may be available within Libraries guidelines.

We Require
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience may substitute for the degree on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Three years of professional experience working with library materials and/or library system circulation modules.
    • A Master’s of Library and Information Science can substitute for two years of experience.
