Job Summary

Naropa University's MA Clinical Mental Health Counseling:
Buddhism-informed Contemplative Counseling concentration (BICC) seeks to hire qualified Faculty Supervisors to support graduate level courses Fall CMHC 622-BA Internship I & Spring CMHC 624-BA Internship II for the 2026
-2027 academic year. The Fall semester runs between August 24, 2026 and December 11, 2026. The Spring semester runs between January 11, 2027 and May 7, 2027. The full academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) commitment is preferred.

Course Description

This course supports field experience in which students provide direct counseling services under licensed supervision at an external site. Students attend university supervision as well to explore case conceptualization, client services, and their professional development.

BICC supplemental course description:
During the internship year, students meet weekly in small groups with 1-2 members of the clinical faculty and use a contemplative approach to case presentation. These presentations are directed toward a deeper understanding of how the principles of Buddhism‑Informed Contemplative Counseling manifest in clinical work. Group members also practice clinical skills in these groups.

Job Duties
  • Facilitates a 2-hour-long weekly Internship I & II Faculty Supervision small group class from the first week of the academic school year spanning August 24, 2026 to the last week of classes May 11, 2027 (15 classes per semester).
  • Attends four (4) Faculty Supervisors' Meetings per academic year (beginning and middle of each semester).
  • Attends Capstone Presentations of your supervision group students on Saturday April 24, 2027.
  • Attends one mid-semester evaluation meeting each semester per student with the Field Placement supervisor and the student at the placement site, for the purpose of setting goals and reviewing progress of the student as well as to evaluate the site and the site supervisor.
  • Tracks student internship hours and provides regular contact with Field Placement site supervisor through online Supervision Assist program.
  • Keeps an overview of the students' journeys to have a sense of their ongoing process in their clinical work.
  • Availability to read and comment on student Process Notes in a timely manner.
  • Communicates student and site issues to the BICC Internship course lead instructor, Academic Advisor and concentration chair, and university Office of Career and Life Development as needed.
  • As appropriate, works with staff and other faculty members to manage and/or mediate student issues and educational obstacles.
  • As needed, handles probationary issues in accordance with program policies and procedures and complete related paperwork.
  • Completes any and all faculty and staff trainings as required by the Human Resources Office or the Office of Academic Affairs within the time period set for completion by those departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Counseling or related field.
  • Licensed or working towards licensure at the Professional Counselor level. Other clinical mental health licenses (LMFT, LCSW, Psychologist) are also welcome.
  • Approved Clinical Supervisor credential or minimum 6 hours of Clinical Supervisor training.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
  • Currently performing clinical work in the counseling field with at least two years of post‑graduate clinical experience.
  • Must have strong supervision, team building, decision‑making, listening, communication, and group facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with co‑facilitator, concentration staff, and other faculty members.
