Reporting to the Vice Provost for Academic Technology and Resource Management (ATRM), with a dotted line to the Vice Chancellor and Senior Vice Provost for Academic Planning and Assessment, this position serves as a collaborative partner with campus data teamsand academic units to advance academic data strategy, decisionsupport, and learning assessment in the Office of the Provost.
Academic Affairs and Academic Technology and Resource Management(ATRM) work together to advance CU Boulder’s academic mission through excellence in teaching, learning, and data-informed decision-making. Led by the Provost, Academic Affairs providesleadership for academic programs, faculty affairs, and studentsuccess, while ATRM delivers the technology, data infrastructure,and resource strategy that enable effective planning, assessment, and continuous improvement across the university.
What YourKey Responsibilities Will BeBuild and Lead the Data Infrastructure for Academic Affairs
- Develop and advance an enterprise data strategy for Academic Affairs, including governance, reporting frameworks, and decision-support tools, in partnership with the Office of Data Analytics.
- Advise the Provost and members of the Provost’s Cabinet on datapriorities, investments, and analytics that support academicplanning, program effectiveness, and student success.
- Lead the implementation of integrated, scalable data systemsaligned with campus data architecture and policies.
- Supervise and develop staff, ensuring workflows andhigh-quality outputs.
- Build a scalable team structure to meet evolving Academic Affairs data and analytics needs.
- Partner with Academic Affairs, Institutional Research, ODA, andOIT to align data definitions, reporting standards, and analyticspriorities.
- Lead organizational change efforts related to datainfrastructure, including role clarity, reporting relationships,and continuity of operations.
- Support university strategic priorities including creatingenvironments where everyone can thrive; applying approaches (e.g.,disaggregation) that advance equity.
- Promote, support, and lead a culture of data-informed decision-making through shared tools, training, and engagement withacademic leaders.
- Set priorities and handle delivery of analytics, reporting, and decision-support services.
- Establish work plans, timelines, and performance metricsaligned with institutional goals.
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for leadership decision-making.
- Design, lead and implement strategic institutional-levelassessment of student learning results.
- Collaborate/participate in academic program review process,assisting in the review of assessment plans, providing formativefeedback for academic departments/units, and helping find opportunities to enact significant educational change.
- Provide strategic advice and consultation to academicleadership, implementation, and evaluation of improvements and enhancements to existing educational operations, systems, and procedures.
- Conduct qualitative/quantitative research, including supervision of data collection efforts and analysis to report onimpact of student learning outcomes and curricular effectiveness tosupport leadership in data informed decision-making.
- Lead coordination of assessment and institutional effectivenessactivities needed for compliance purposes and for HLCaccreditation, in partnership with ODA/others.
- Summarize findings, write executive reports, and presentassessment results for both internal and externalconstituents.
- Partner with ODA and others to recommend a data analysis/reporting strategy and structure that improvesopportunities to generate useful data.
- Supervise the collection, analysis/evaluation of annual programacademic assessment plans and reports as appropriate.
- Alongside Student Life and Undergraduate Education, advise Dataand Analytics in the ongoing development and implementation of comprehensive outcomes assessment. programs for all academic andnon-academic units that support the teaching-related goals of the university's strategic plan.
- Support Data and Analytics in planning, collection and analysis of various data to support departmental, accreditation and programreviews, including the dissemination of results and assisting others with understanding and appropriately using them.
- Deliver and provide data-based recommendations to campusassessment leaders through the use of applied science, analytics,and visualization.
- Provide appropriate data to support assessment processes,prepare reports summarizing those data, and maintain content on theinstitutional assessment web pages.
