The College of Arts & Sciences at CU Boulder encourages applications for an Academic Advisor position! Academic Advisors work in a multi-disciplinary  neighborhood  team setting to assist students in planning for-and making informed decisions about-areas of study, intended college outcomes, and post-baccalaureate plans. Academic Advisors educate the whole student through a developmental advising approach and are charged with implementing advising strategies and interventions to enhance the performance and persistence of students throughout their time on campus.

Academic Advisors help students assess their interests, values, and academic skills. They support students with long-term degree planning, course registration, and graduation timeline planning. Academic Advisors teach students to navigate the university's academic systems, processes, and policies, and work with students to personalize their academic paths, including offering co-curricular guidance and referrals. In addition to one-on-one interactions, Academic Advisors work with students in group settings via workshops, presentations, campus events, and other engagement activities.

Academic Advisors stay up to date on curricular requirements, academic policies, and opportunities in their areas of specialty and provide students with accurate and timely information and guidance to support exploration and academic engagement across the college. A successful Academic Advisor demonstrates an agile mentality, enthusiastic attitude, and passion for working with students and colleagues. Academic Advisors are highly relational and are comfortable engaging with students in one-on-one and large groups using a variety of outreach methods and in various meeting formats.

Throughout all interactions, Academic Advisors consistently exhibit a student support orientation and strong communication skills. A&S Academic Advisors demonstrate a developmental advising approach that focuses on relationship building, exploration, academic goal setting, and success on an individual level.
