The “I Have A Dream” Foundation of Boulder County is committed to strengthening the community by centering youth and putting students’ needs first. For over 30 years, it has provided individualized, holistic social, emotional, and academic support to students from underserved communities, beginning in 1st grade and continuing through college. Through long-term after school programming and other individualized support, the foundation helps students build the skills, relationships, and opportunities they need to thrive.

The organization also provides postsecondary tuition assistance scholarships to help students pursue higher education. Deeply rooted in Boulder County, the foundation relies on ongoing community support to sustain its mission.

Role Description

This is a part-time, on-site Ameri Corps Member role based in Boulder, CO. The Ameri Corps Member will support students through after school programming, classroom support, tutoring, and enrichment activities that promote academic growth and social-emotional development. Daily tasks may include assisting with homework, leading small-group learning sessions, coordinating workshops, and helping implement program curricula under the guidance of program staff. The member will build positive, consistent relationships with students and families, support program events, and collaborate with educators, volunteers, and community partners.

The role also involves tracking student participation, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

  • Ability to provide academic support, including tutoring, homework help, and facilitating small-group learning.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to support youth, engage families, and collaborate with staff and community partners.
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion, with sensitivity to diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and racial backgrounds.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills, including reliable documentation and time management.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills to respond to student needs in dynamic classroom and after school settings.
  • Interest in education, youth development, social work, or related fields; prior experience working with youth is beneficial.
  • Ability to work on-site in Boulder, CO, and meet Ameri Corps eligibility requirements, including age and background check requirements.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or a degree is preferred.
