General Statement of Duties
The Curriculum and Training Manager supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality English language curriculum, training, programs, and educational resources for adult learners and the individuals who support them.
A key responsibility of this role is applying TESOL and adult learning best practices to create practical, engaging, and accessible curricula, training, and resources that volunteer teachers, tutors, program administrators, and other partners can easily implement. The Curriculum and Training Manager collaborates across the organization and with external partners to support effective, responsive, and accessible learning experiences for adult English language learners and those who support their learning.
Primary Responsibilities
Teacher Training and Professional Learning
• Develop and facilitate engaging in-person and online trainings and workshops for volunteer teachers and tutors, ESL instructors, program administrators, professional conferences, and partner organizations.
• Design and develop professional learning opportunities and resources, including workshops, training materials, videos, guides, and self-paced learning.
• Provide guidance, feedback, and support to teachers, tutors, learners, and program administrators, including through classroom observations and demonstrations as needed.
• Represent Intercambio at local and national conferences, workshops, and other events by delivering presentations and sharing the organization's educational approach and resources.
• Use participant feedback to help strengthen and improve training and professional learning opportunities.
Curriculum and Educational Resource Development
• Develop and contribute to the development, revision, implementation, and continuous improvement of Intercambio's curriculum, teaching materials, assessments, and other educational resources.
• Apply knowledge of TESOL, adult learning, and instructional design principles throughout the development and review of curriculum and educational materials.
• Support the development of student and educator-focused resources, including placement and assessment tools, rubrics, instructional videos, learning guides, and other materials.
• Collaborate with colleagues and incorporate feedback from students, teachers, tutors, members, partners, and program staff to identify needs and opportunities for improvement.
• Review educational content to ensure it is clear, accessible, culturally responsive, and appropriate for adult English language learners and the educators who support them.
Research, Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement
• Stay current on research, trends, and best practices related to TESOL, adult education, curriculum development, instructional design, and adult learning.
