Boulder County Community Services Department is seeking to hire 5 (five) Head Start Classroom Substitute.
The BCHS Substitute provides reliable, short-term instructional and caregiving support to ensure continuity of care and learning when regular classroom staff are absent. The substitute works collaboratively with teaching teams to maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment aligned with Head Start Performance Standards, program curriculum, and daily routines. Responsibilities include supporting children's learning and social-emotional development, following established lesson plans and behavior guidance practices, assisting with supervision, meals, and transitions;
and upholding all health, safety, and confidentiality requirements. The role requires flexibility, and a commitment to supporting young children and families in a diverse, inclusive, and relationship-based Head Start setting.
These are hourly, non-benefited positions that will work Monday
- Friday 7:45am - 4:15pm as needed. These positions will work out of 2802 Dagny Way, Lafayette; 2850 Mapleton Ave, Boulder; or 2675 Mapleton Ave, Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, these positions are non-exempt (eligible for overtime).
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- A job offer is contingent on passing a background investigation with fingerprinting
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
- Applicants must hold a current, or being willing to obtain a PDIS Early Childhood Professional Credential
- Level 2 within 12 months of hire
- Ability to use a computer with basic skills in Microsoft Office Products and internet-based assessment system or willingness to learn
- Ability to work as a part of a team, channeling communications appropriately
- Ability to relate well to children and adults from diverse backgrounds
