Job Description
OverviewWSP USA Buildings, Inc., an award-winning multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm, is looking for a Building Technology Systems Lead Consultant in Denver, CO or Boulder, CO
. WSP collaborates with architects and owners on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment.
Provides high level technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, design, development, building, testing, and inspecting of smart building projects in the public and private sector. Responsibilities include research, design, concept development, planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and optimal integration of intelligent technologies using a converged network approach and systems that make predictive and automated decisions impacting building capabilities including access control, acoustics, audio systems, security, and video surveillance.
Substantiates reports, documentation, and decisions regarding equipment, installation, integration, and operation specifications. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhere to industry standards for design, safety, and functionality for building inhabitants.
- Provide guidance with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and installation.
- Apply high-level building technology techniques to identify improvements for concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, integration, installation, and operation.
- Perform professional building technology work and conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, layout, usage, and systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and permits.
- Develop construction and installation plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing phasing plans and updating technology layout plans requiring coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
- Involved from project inception to completion in the management of building technology design, installation, and integration projects, including renovation, new builds, operating specifications, materials and equipment, phasing, and installation plans.
- Develop and incorporate advanced technologies, monitoring devices, building materials, modeling techniques, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to account for proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems; implementing future-ready solutions with smart building technology design standards.
- Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on design, installation, and integration issues related to smart buildings using a converged network approach, AV/telecommunications, and intelligent systems that make predictive and automated decisions that impact building capabilities, safety, and security.
- Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams to execute project work on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours/expenses, task completion, material/labor cost, permit applications, schematics, construction, compliance documentation, and regulatory/technical memos.
- Coordinate, review and approve installation design plans, ensuring data integrity and compliance with codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Prepare data and visualizations (tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, cross-sections, technical drawings, spreadsheets) for interpretation or presentation of complex data and analyses.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to explain research, concepts, and recommendations to address design and/or installation issues or opportunities.
- Analyze, evaluate, and interpret data from site assessments; develop action plans for moderate- to high-risk installations, equipment operations, and mitigation activities.
- Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
