Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly qualified candidate who sustains and improves fabrication processes in single-point diamond turning for successful execution of production optics manufacturing. Provides expertise and leadership in supporting the ongoing production of optical components using process engineering skills. The Senior Fabrication Process Engineer reports to the Fabrication Process Engineering Lead.
Responsibilities- Serves as a technical subject matter expert for diamond turning fabrication.
- Supports procurement and quality with supplier evaluation and selection.
- Creates and improves documentation for the manufacturing of optical components.
- Trains and supports technicians on the execution of fabrication processes.
- Supports troubleshooting of existing fabrication processes.
- Monitors and drives improvement of production fabrication processes and equipment using SPC.
- Assists in the transfer of optical fabrication process technologies from R&D to production.
- Identifies, justifies, and qualifies new equipment into production.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (Physics, Optics, etc.).
- 5+ years of single-point diamond turning optical component fabrication experience desirable.
- Proficiency with Nanotech Ultra-Precision Lathes desirable.
- Proficiency with Zygo and Form Talysurf metrology desirable.
- Proficiency with Solid Works or other CAD software desirable.
- Proficiency with SPC desirable.
- Experience with structured problem-solving tools (8D, DMAIC, etc) desirable.
This position requires the use of information, which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
