Long Path is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work on all aspects of our laser spectrometer, including robust optomechanical design, prototype development and testing, design for manufacturability, and industrial field infrastructure design and test. The ideal candidate will be excited to take a great deal of ownership from specifications to final design and work well in a dynamic team. We are a small and fast-growing company, so the position offers a large amount of both freedom and responsibility!
WhatYou’ll Do
- Design mechanical assemblies in CAD
- Hands on assembly and test of prototypes
- Environmental testing of systems to replicate field conditions
- Thermodynamic analysis to ensure stability over a range of environmental conditions
- Optimize designs for manufacturability and ease of assembly, including tolerance analysis
- Coordinate with suppliers and fabricators to ensure manufactured parts meet design tolerance
- Solid Works mastery
- Thermodynamic analysis experience, including the ability to perform back of the envelope sanity checks
- FEA experience
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a wide range of individual stakeholders, including non-engineers
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- Robotics/mechatronics experience
- Experience with industrial infrastructure, such as instrument towers
- Optomechanical design experience with free-space optics
- Work is performed in an office/laboratory environment in Boulder, CO
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in US (no sponsorship)
