Job DescriptionNLR is seeking a graduate summer intern to design and optimize distributed hybrid energy systems focused on producing chemical end‑uses. The intern will integrate technologies across generation, storage, distribution, and chemical end‑uses, run analyses and optimizations to determine optimal sizing technically and economically, deploy scalable strategies for varying hybrid plant sizes in real time, and use simulation tools such as H2

Integrate. - Demonstrate broad understanding of engineering principles, theories, and concepts related to hybrid energy.
- Work with federal, state, and industry partners.
- Publish results in technical journals/conference proceedings and present at conferences, symposia, and sponsor review meetings.
- Support development of new work proposals, preparations, and reviews.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Eligible to enroll as a full‑time student in a master’s program (or recently earned a master’s degree) and must be able to complete an internship up to one year.
- For undergraduates: enrolled as a full‑time student in a bachelor’s degree program; for post‑undergraduates: earned a bachelor’s degree within the past 12 months.
- Applicants must meet educational requirements prior to the start date.
- Experience with distributed hybrid energy system design.
- Experience modeling chemical processes such as ammonia.
- Python programming skills and comfort working in high‑performance computing environments.

SalaryAnnual salary range for a full‑time 40‑hour week: $44,500 – $71,200.
