Responsibilities
  • Design and plan network communications systems.
  • Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Provide detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Conduct testing of network design.
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Network Engineering experience i.e. design, implementation, troubleshooting of complex network infrastructure
  • Deep knowledge of OSI/TCP/IP models, Layer 2/3 technologies (VLAN, OSPF, BGP), and hands on experience with either Cisco/Juniper devices (both preferred)
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: DISA STIGs, COMSEC, and/or TACLANEs
Clearance and Certifications
  • Active Security+ CE (or equivalent IAT Level II) required or ability to obtain within 60-90 days.
  • Active Secret clearance is required prior to start and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
Role Details

Lockheed Martin is seeking a highly skilled level 4 Network Engineer with an active Secret clearance to work from our Boulder, CO location. This is a MID-SR CAREER (level
4) role where candidates typically require 5+ years of professional experience and a BS degree. The Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Infrastructure Team is seeking a Network Engineer to design, build, and sustain the ground‑station platform that supports both SBIRS and the Next‑Gen GEO OPIR ground stations. You will work closely with software, security, and mission engineers to deliver ultra‑reliable, secure, and scalable ground‑systems that enable continuous infrared surveillance and missile‑warning capabilities for legacy and next‑generation satellite constellations.

Your work will directly protect troops, allies, and critical infrastructure worldwide.

Desired Skills
  • Multi‑vendor switching/routing expertise (Juniper, Cisco) with certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA or higher
  • Experience with SDN such as Cisco ACI or Juniper Apstra
  • Experience with network automation tools such as Ansible
  • Exposure to virtualization technologies such as VMware, vSAN
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, agile scrum environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio
