What You Will Do
As an Associate Director‑Capital Infrastructure Projects for a diverse portfolio of Investor‑Owned and Public Utility projects, you will work directly with our Arizona Account Director to serve Utility clients in Arizona and the Southwest. Projects range from major capital infrastructure, power generation, power transmission and distribution system related projects and a range of power utility client internal projects within the desert southwest region.
You will be joining a team that is passionate about delivering programs and innovation to solve our client’s most pressing problems.
The Associate Director‑Capital Infrastructure Projects role requires an initiative‑taking, driven professional with strong business acumen, a proven track record of success in leading project and program delivery teams within the utilities industry, professional services experience, a solid understanding of utility business operations and passion for execution and delivery excellence. As a key member of the Commercial Energy Providers project team, you will be responsible for managing teams that deliver strategic advisory, capital project delivery, engineering studies, financial management, grants management, regulatory compliance and monitoring, technology transformation, data analytics, and risk management consulting engagements.
The role will have a primary focus on grid transformation, infrastructure expansion, technology innovation, sustainability and electrification for electric and gas utilities. In addition, you will work with client stakeholders to assess project performance, identify and manage risks and issues, keeping clients informed and proactively managing expectations.
Responsibilities- Managing and mentoring project teams and coordinating projects and work streams
- Managing, monitoring and evaluating project activities and overall project performance
- Contributing to project planning, budgeting, and overall strategy
- Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining project documentation and reports
- Overseeing and maintaining project contracts and financials
- Establishing and reporting on key performance indicators
- Analyzing project data and producing insights to optimize performance
- Identifying problems and shortfalls and proposing solutions
- Providing operational support such as liaising with stakeholders, tracking timelines, etc.
- Supporting the development and rollout of our project management methodology, being a coach and change agent to encourage adoption
- Coordinating with client account and project teams to develop innovative solutions and proposals to address client priorities and needs
- Supporting growth and client satisfaction within client account teams
- May include grants management compliance
- Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, economics, finance, public policy and/or related discipline AND SEVEN (7+) plus years‑post graduation project management experience in the power utilities sector
- Work experience in Solar (Commercial/Residential), Banking, Construction, Pharma, Manufacturing, Financial Services, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Defense or Aerospace does NOT count towards years of experience requirement
- Knowledgeable in all phases of the capital projects and project management life cycle beyond IT project management
- Outstanding analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Experience with stakeholder and financial management
- Excellent at visualizing project and program data, synthesizing insights, and making data informed decisions
- Ability to assume ownership of significant portions of tasks while collaborating with a close‑knit team
- Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting deadlines
- Proposal writing experience including budget development and managing proposal timeline with a variety of subject matter experts providing input
- Demonstrated attention to detail

- Strong interpersonal skills
- An inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement
- Ability to travel
