Overview

The College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at CU Boulder seeks a Finance and Payroll Professional to provide operational support to 6‑8 CEAS programs. This role ensures effective finance processes, manages payroll transactions, and collaborates with the Assistant Director for Budget and Finance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Submit payroll expense transfers (PETs) and funding distribution changes, ensuring all paperwork is processed per policy.
  • Collaborate with CEAS HR on new hires, appointment adjustments, and end‑of‑appointment changes in HCM.
  • Run bi‑weekly and monthly payroll registers, maintaining internal tracking for expected payroll numbers.
  • Process over‑payment paperwork and check pulls with HR.
  • Review and resolve monthly suspense accounts.
  • Respond to payroll questions and resolve issues.
  • Assist with program procurement, including Concur reimbursement card reconciliation.
  • Compile, validate, and review receipts, create expense reports, and allocate charges per university procurement standards.
  • Create purchase requisitions for purchases over $5,000, ensuring documentation and internal tracking.
  • Set up new vendors for purchase orders.
  • Investigate missing payment issues and process warrant adjustments.
  • Assist with journal entries, ensuring correct documentation.
  • Apply fund‑accounting knowledge to support units.
Special Projects
  • Review current payroll processes and develop consistent practices across programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director for Budget and Finance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant University and State of Colorado policies.
  • Participate in professional development activities and committees.
Working Environment

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work modality in accordance with the CEAS Hybrid Work Policy.

Compensation
  • Professional Level 1: $52,000 – $58,500
  • Professional Level 2: $58,500 – $62,400

Relocation assistance available within departmental guidelines.

Professional Level 1 Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance‑related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience in payroll or finance procedures.
Professional Level 2 Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance‑related field.
  • One year of relevant professional experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience in payroll or finance procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in finance and payroll administration.
  • Experience in higher education or public sector finance management.
  • Experience with People Soft Finance or similar, HR systems, and mFIN finance reporting.
