Overview
Senior Analyst – Public Finance Not‑For‑Profit Health Care team at S&P Global Ratings. Lead credit analysis for acute care hospitals, health systems, senior living and human service provider ratings across the United States. Gather and analyze issuer data, prepare detailed committee presentations, support rating committee deliberations, and contribute to research publications.
Responsibilities- Meet with issuers, assess historical and projected data, and compile information into thorough committee presentations.
- Serve as the primary analyst on credit transactions and prepare well‑supported rating recommendations for rating committees.
- Act as a voting member of the rating committee, reviewing materials prior to publication.
- Publish timely and insightful credit reports and contribute to research pieces.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of ratings criteria and financial statement analysis, staying informed on relevant news and issues affecting credit quality in the health care space and municipal bond market.
- Participate in moderately complex analytical and deal‑specific situations.
- Assist in resolving client needs and participate in investor calls with more senior analysts.
- Contribute to research publications or special projects.
- Adhere to the policy of working from the office a minimum of two days per week.
- 2‑5+ years of experience in municipal markets; health‑care sector experience highly relevant.
- Bachelor’s degree required; postgraduate qualifications an advantage.
- Ability to connect day‑to‑day work with organizational priorities and demonstrate decision‑making authority over assigned work.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for internal and external audiences.
- Excellent attention to detail and skills in quantitative analysis.
- Ability to accurately interpret data and apply criteria to generate key analytical insights and conclusions.
- Initiative to identify and address problems or suggest process improvements.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and markets, and knowledge of S&P’s analytical products and services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and aptitude for learning new applications/proprietary software.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues to achieve common goals.
- Experience in identifying areas for process improvement and implementing creative solutions.
Base salary range: $90,000 – $115,000, depending on location, experience, and skills. Eligible for annual incentive plan and additional S&P Global benefits.
