Assistant Director of Finance and Business Analysis
The Assistant Director of Finance and Business Analysis is a critical leader in the Student Life Finance and Business Services team for the Division of Student Life. The position is responsible for a wide range of activities that support the financial planning, analysis, reporting, financial oversight, risk mitigation and the overall business activities for the Division of Student Life financial portfolio.
The position oversees the Finance and Business Analysis team of five professionals who deliver financial support to the division's departments. This role advises the team on questions arising from departmental operations by participating in department meetings and partnering with staff to identify standard processes and promote cross-collaboration. The position emphasizes consistent application of accounting and operational standards across the division, helping to prevent silos or inconsistencies.
This includes, and is not limited to, oversight of customized reporting, control and approval of general ledger transactions, month- and year-end fiscal close procedures, units' budget development, business process improvement initiatives, and multi-year strategic planning and reporting efforts. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail and organization, along with demonstrated experience leading and mentoring a high-performing team to ensure equitable, consistent, and high-quality support for all departments.

Student Life Financial Planning and Reporting is a centralized service center for the Division of Student Life that provides support in all financial and accounting areas. Staff collaborate with departments to understand their operational processes in order to best advise them on appropriate accounting and financial practices. They assist with budget planning and financial management best practices, financial reporting and analysis, billing and invoicing services and more.

Key Responsibilities Will Be
Financial Planning, Analysis, Reporting
- Enhances, implements, and enforces financial policies and procedures ensuring fiscal responsibility, efficiency, and compliance.
- Oversees financial reporting to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information within all divisional funding sources including auxiliary revenue, capital projects, gifts, grants, and general funds. Reviews these with the SL Finance team and leadership for divisional awareness and to ensure proper action is taken when applicable.
- Leads and oversees the division's annual budgeting processes which includes assisting with creating budget workbooks, planning, and leading budget trainings and meeting with Division Directors to establish their annual budgets.
- This role also leads the coordination of CU Student Government budgeting process alongside student leaders in the Finance Board.
- Ensures proper use of revenue and expense speed types and account codes for reporting and analytical purposes.
- Directs the Finance and Business Analysis team for all monthly and fiscal year-end close including quality checks and journal entry approvals.
- Works closely with their team to ensure efficiency in program financial management, providing applicable training and education, discussing process improvements, and providing financial and accounting procedure guidance.
