Description Of JobDivision of Gaming: Ensures that limited gaming is conducted honestly, fairly, and competitively, and is free from criminal and corrupt elements.
A Typical Day Of An Auditor IProvide audit assistance to the Lead Auditor and Audit Manager in completing revenue audits and conducting all aspects of compliance audits of licensees. Assignments are structured and performed with direction and assistance from others with the intent to train positions for a higher level in the class series.
Primary Duties Revenue Audits and Compliance Reviews- Examine records and interview licensee staff to complete revenue audits and compliance reviews by completing the audit and review steps outlined in the audit and review programs.
- Clarify objectives of the rules, regulations, and ICMP to licensees when conducting compliance reviews and audits in the field and responding to phone inquiries.
- Participate in evaluation of gaming technology to ensure compliance with the Internal Controls and proper calculation and reporting of Adjusted Gross Proceeds.
- Based on the results of the audits and compliance reviews, develop findings and recommendations needed to bring licensees into compliance with ICMP or Gaming Regulations.
- Participate in report preparation and presentations.
- Answer technical inquiries of licensee’s and clarify, counsel, and advise on the Division’s interpretations of the rules, regulations, and ICMP to licensees.
- Promote a positive image of the Division to others and strive for a good working relationship with other Division staff, licensees, CPA firms, attorneys, and other interested parties.
Five (5) years of relevant experience in Auditing.
OR
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in Auditing equal to five (5) years.
- Current, valid licensure as a CPA from the Colorado Board of Accountancy or current, valid CIA certificate will substitute for five (5) years of the requirement.
- Must successfully pass a background investigation and a tax check prior to appointment to position in the Gaming Division.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License (at the time of application).
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written), analytical/problem solving skills, effective customer service.
- State Auditing experience in a regulatory environment.
- Proven ability to work independently and accept supervision.
- Attention to detail.
- Proven success organizing and tracking workload.
- Experience with Team Mate audit management software.
- Experience with Google Suite products (e.g., Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Doc, etc.)
