Position Summary
The Littleton Police Department seeks a Police Officer Recruit to perform patrol activities, respond to calls for service, enforce laws and ordinances, and provide assistance and information to the public. The role includes investigation, evidence collection, court testimony, and emergency response duties while working under the direction of a patrol sergeant.
Responsibilities- Respond to calls for service received from the communications center or the public, evaluate priority, and take appropriate action to protect life and property.
- Initiate contact with reporting parties, victims, witnesses, criminal violators, and suspects; conduct interviews, take statements, and prepare case reports.
- Execute arrests, detain suspects, and use necessary force while maintaining legal compliance.
- Perform traffic accident investigations, enforce traffic laws, produce accident reports, and issue summonses.
- Collect and preserve evidence, photograph crime scenes, and coordinate with other agencies.
- Operate an assigned police vehicle and radio equipment, and maintain accurate records and reports via a personal computer.
- Provide information, advice, and assistance on crime prevention and community services to citizens, business owners, and other agencies.
- Deliver testimony in municipal, county, and district courts regarding investigations and evidence.
- Support the mission, values, and ethics of the department, maintaining a positive public image.
- May serve as an Emergency Worker when required.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 60 semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of college coursework with grades of "C" or higher at time of application, OR four years of active‑duty U.S. military service with honorable discharge.
- Age 21 by July 2026; no felony convictions.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Physical ability to handle burdens up to 200 pounds and perform required physical activities.
- Strong knowledge of law enforcement principles, criminal law, investigative techniques, and use of equipment and firearms.
- Good communication skills, emotional maturity, and sound judgment.
- Full mental and physical capacity to perform duties safely.

- Starting salary: $76,100 per year.
- Upon successful academy graduation, eligible for promotion to Police Officer V with salary $83,280.
