Per Diem Patient Access Registrar – Responsible for providing patient-oriented service in a clinical or front office setting; performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties related to the delivery of patient care, including greeting and checking in patients, answering phones, collecting patient co-pays and insurance payments, processing paperwork, and performing other front office duties as required in a fast-paced, customer-oriented clinical environment.
ScheduleThis position is per diem in the Emergency Department or other areas based on business needs, generally at least 8-12 hours per month. We consider candidates with a variety of availability; weekends or overnight shifts are a plus.
Primary Responsibilities- Communicates directly with patients and/or families to complete the registration process by collecting demographics, health information, and verifying insurance eligibility/benefits
- Uses computer systems to enter, access or verify patient data in real time, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Verifies insurance coverage and benefits and creates price estimates and reverifications as needed
- Collects patient co-pays and discusses out-of-pocket financial obligations with patients
- Collects data from patients and referring provider offices to confirm patient services prior to hospital discharge
- Responds to patient and caregiver inquiries with compassion and respect
- Generates, reviews and analyzes patient data reports and follows up on issues and inconsistencies as necessary
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of registration requirements for all areas including Emergency Department, Main Admitting, OP Registration and Maternity units
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- 1+ years of customer service experience in a hospital, office or phone support setting
- Ability to work onsite at 4747 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder CO 80303 in an emergency department setting
- Ability and willingness to work on a per diem basis, generally at least 8-12 hours per month
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work weekends or overnight hours
- Experience with electronic medical records such as Epic
- Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or medical setting
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
- Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
- Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
- Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
- Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. The hourly pay range for this role is $16.00 to $27.69 per hour based on full-time employment. A comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution are available (eligibility applies). We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
