Boulder Medical Center (BMC) is a local, independent, physician‑owned medical group with over 20 primary and specialty care departments, 90 providers, and 325+ clinical and support professionals. Since our founding by 10 physicians in 1949, we have grown and evolved to meet the needs of Boulder County and beyond.
We currently have clinics located in Boulder (2 locations), Louisville, Longmont, and Erie.
SummaryBoulder Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a customer‑service‑oriented candidate to join our collaborative Medical Receptionist team, often referred to as the Patient Access Associate team! This position is benefit‑eligible, works full‑time 40 hours per week Monday‑Friday, and rotates Saturday mornings. It is based at our BMC Foothills location (4745 Arapahoe Ave, Suite 200, Boulder, CO 80303) but may also rotate to our Longmont location.
The role will support all clinics at this location in both front‑office and back‑office scheduling duties.

- Day shift schedules.
- Experience working with both primary care and specialty care clinics.
- Answer the telephone promptly, evaluating patient needs to determine appointment type.
- Summarize appointment details prior to ending the phone call.
- Manage all phone functionalities such as transfers, placing callers on hold, forwarding phone to after‑hours message system, etc.
- Accurately record patient name, numbers and demographic information using correct spelling and punctuation.
- Schedule/reschedule/cancel appointments according to provider preference and scheduling protocol.
- Navigate and operate Electronic Medical Records system, arrive patients for appointments, and input relevant information as needed.
- Use good judgment, professionalism and discretion when screening telephone calls, answering inquiries and relaying appropriate information.
- Work under pressure and maintain phone etiquette using tact and diplomacy.
- Possess excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong computer and data entry skills.
- Strong grammar and spelling ability, and the ability to read, write and understand the English language.
- Neat, well‑groomed appearance and courteous manner.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA compliance, preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s Degree or some college coursework in Business or Healthcare Administration, preferred.
- One (1) year of previous work experience involving public contact, preferably with heavy phone experience.
- Previous experience with patient scheduling in a hospital or clinic setting, preferred.
- Bi‑lingual ability (Spanish), a plus.
- The starting hourly pay range for this position is commensurate with experience: $17.19 – $22.92/hour (full pay range is $17.19 – $25.79).
