About the RoleAcademy Bella Vista is seeking an experienced, compassionate Community Manager to lead the daily operations of our exceptional, relationship-centered memory care community in Boulder, Colorado.
The Community Manager plays a key leadership role in creating an environment where older adults living with dementia and Alzheimer's disease experience purpose, dignity, connection, and the highest possible quality of life. This position combines memory care leadership, senior living operations, staff management, family support, and resident engagement.
We are looking for a leader who is highly visible in the community, builds meaningful relationships with residents and families, develops and supports an exceptional team, and understands the unique needs of individuals living with dementia.
What You'll Do Resident & Family Experience- Foster a relationship-centered memory care culture that honors each resident's history, preferences, abilities, and individuality.
- Build meaningful relationships with residents through regular interaction, participation in daily life, and consistent visibility throughout the community.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for families, providing guidance, emotional support, education, and consistent communication.
- Facilitate sensitive conversations regarding dementia progression, transitions in care, goals of care, and end-of-life planning with empathy and professionalism.
- Lead and coordinate family meetings as appropriate.
- Support new resident admissions and help residents and families transition into the community with compassion and confidence.
- Promote resident autonomy, dignity, independence, and quality of life through individualized programming and meaningful engagement.
- Oversee and continually enhance therapeutic memory care programming that supports residents cognitively, emotionally, socially, physically, and spiritually.
- Collaborate with team members to develop activities and programming based on residents' individual interests, histories, needs, and abilities.
- Develop opportunities for intergenerational engagement, volunteer involvement, community partnerships, and meaningful purpose.
- Promote recreational activities, holiday celebrations, outings, support groups, and special events that foster connection and belonging.
- Provide hands-on leadership and management of caregiving, kitchen, and administrative teams.
- Recruit, onboard, manage, mentor, and develop employees in accordance with Academy Bella Vista policies and standards.
- Cultivate a workplace culture centered on empathy, patience, teamwork, accountability, and resident-centered decision-making.
- Oversee staff scheduling and respond to unforeseen staffing vacancies and operational needs.
- Manage payroll processes and coordinate employee time-off requests with staffing needs.
- Conduct regular employee performance reviews and ensure required performance documentation is maintained.
- Ensure team members receive ongoing education in dementia care, Alzheimer's care, communication techniques, behavioral interventions, and relationship-centered care.
- Ensure employees are appropriately trained in Paylocity for timekeeping, time-off requests, and community communications.
- Lead regular staff meetings.
- Schedule and conduct required regulatory and safety drills.
- Assist the Administrator in coordinating with nurses, caregivers, physicians, hospice providers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to support comprehensive resident care.
- Participate with the nursing team in resident assessments, care conferences, and discussions regarding changes in level of care.
- Help families understand care recommendations and available resources.
- Support residents and families through hospice transitions, grief, disease progression, and major life changes.
- Collaborate closely with the Administrator and Managing Director to support daily memory care community operations.
- Ensure resident services are delivered consistently and in accordance with Academy Bella Vista standards.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, organized, and engaging community environment.
- Support occupancy goals by meeting with prospective residents and families, conducting community tours, and communicating Academy Bella Vista's philosophy of care.
- Participate in strategic planning, quality improvement, and community initiatives.
- Provide occasional on-call support for non-nursing operational needs.
- Oversee procurement of food, health services, activities, and office supplies.
- Work with the Administrator to manage operational budgets, monitor expenses, and identify significant anticipated or actual budget deviations.
- Ensure memory care practices comply with Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Assisted Living regulations and Academy Boulder policies.
