FREE private bedroom + private bathroom | Flexible support role | Optional additional paid work available Meet CB! CB is an outgoing, social woman with an intellectual/developmental disability who works, has a busy social life, and loves being around people. She has lived independently in her own apartment for the past five years with support from family, friends, and drop in staff.
Through that experience, CB and her team have learned something important: she can live independently, but living alone isn’t the best fit for her. CB does best with connection, consistency, and being part of a household. She benefits from having someone around to share everyday life with, talk things through when she gets overwhelmed, help with some practical things, and support her in continuing to learn and practice the skills that help her be successful and independent.
So, for CB’s next chapter, we’re looking for the right person to live with her as a supportive housemate and approved live in aide. More about CB CB works part time and has a whole team of people supporting her independence and success. Some are family and friends, and others are paid service providers through Nexus Family Caregivers. She loves live music and concerts, especially Billy Strings and bluegrass, along with coffee shops, restaurants, movies, games, working out, and getting out and doing things.
She’s outgoing, funny, loves being around people, and is definitely a verbal processor. She’d love living with someone who doesn’t mind hearing about her day, talking through life’s little decisions, and sometimes grabbing coffee, making dinner, going to a concert, working out, or finding something fun to do together.
We envision this as a genuine housemate relationship. Two people sharing a home, each having their own life and privacy, while CB also has the benefit of a consistent person in the household who can provide support, companionship, teaching, and help with everyday life when needed. The goal isn’t to take away CB’s independence. It’s the opposite: to give her the support and social environment that helps her continue building a full, independent adult life.
What does the live in aide role look like? Housing is provided completely free as part of the live in aide arrangement. The live in aide will have their own private bedroom and private bathroom. We anticipate approximately 12 to 15 hours per week of flexible, structured support, with some support happening naturally as part of sharing a home.
Support may include things like:
- Grocery shopping and meal planning
- Cooking together and building kitchen skills
- Household organization, cleaning routines, and shared chores
- Helping CB stay on top of her schedule and routines
- Budgeting and everyday problem solving
- Occasional errands, transportation, or community activities
- Talking through plans, decisions, and stressful situations
- Supporting CB when she becomes overwhelmed
- Helping CB continue building independent living skills
- Communicating with CB’s support team and completing brief required documentation
Some weeks may look different from others. CB’s support needs can fluctuate, so flexibility is important. This is not a 24/7 caregiving position and there are no scheduled overnight shifts. CB has a larger support team and separate backup and emergency supports. You will not be responsible for meeting all of her needs on your own. We want you to have your own life, too.
This should be your primary home, and we’re looking for someone who will genuinely be part of normal household life. That does not mean spending every free moment together. You can have your own job or school, friends, relationships, hobbies, weekends away, vacations, and privacy. CB also has her own activities, friends,…
