As a Peer Recovery Coach, you will draw on your own lived experience of recovery to support individuals through every stage of treatment at an Ignitus Recovery facility. Serving as a mentor, advocate, and role model, you will build trusting relationships that foster hope, resilience, and personal responsibility in recovery. You will collaborate closely with clinical, medical, and support staff to help clients engage in treatment, strengthen their recovery capital, and develop practical skills for long-term wellness.

This is an hourly, full-time role that relies heavily on compassionate accountability, strong boundaries, and a deep respect for each client’s autonomy and lived experience.

  • Job Type: Full-Time W-2
  • Schedule: 8-Hour Shifts. Days based on program need
  • Compensation: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour (Commensurate with experience)
What You'll Do
  • Use lived experience of recovery to build rapport, trust, and authentic peer-to-peer relationships with clients.
  • Provide one-on-one mentoring and coaching to support clients in identifying recovery goals and developing individualized recovery plans.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate recovery-focused groups, meetings, and skill-building sessions.
  • Offer peer support throughout all phases of treatment, including admission, treatment engagement, transitions of care, and discharge planning.
  • Support clients in navigating cravings, triggers, and high-risk situations using recovery-oriented tools and strategies.
  • Provide crisis de-escalation and emotional support, while adhering to safety protocols and knowing when to involve clinical or supervisory staff.
  • Model healthy coping skills, self-advocacy, boundary setting, and recovery-oriented daily living.
  • Collaborate with clinical, medical, case management, and administrative staff to ensure coordinated, recovery-centered care.
  • Assist clients in accessing community-based recovery resources, including mutual aid groups, sober living, vocational supports, and other community organizations.
  • Help clients build and strengthen their community recovery network and natural supports.
  • Document all services, contacts, and interventions in accordance with organizational, clinical, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential records in the electronic health record (EHR) or other designated systems.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and care coordination discussions to advocate for client needs and recovery perspectives.
  • Provide education on recovery principles, peer support, and stigma reduction as appropriate to clients, families, and staff.
  • Promote a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive environment within the program.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and adhere to ethical guidelines for peer recovery support.
  • Engage in ongoing supervision, training, and professional development, including pursuit or maintenance of peer recovery certification.
  • Support clients in developing practical life skills related to housing stability, employment, education, and community integration as they relate to recovery.
  • Recognize and promptly report safety, risk, or clinical concerns to appropriate team members.
  • Uphold Ignitus Recovery's values, policies, and procedures while representing the voice and perspective of lived experience on the care team.
Qualifications
  • Self-identifies as a person with lived recovery experience and is willing to share that experience appropriately in a professional setting.
  • Personal experience with recovery (or as required by applicable state or certifying body) preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Colorado peer recovery support certification (e.g., COPA, CPFS, or similar), OR the ability and willingness to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Basic understanding of addiction, co-occurring mental health conditions, and recovery processes.
  • Demonstrated skills in mentoring, coaching, and peer support in either formal or informal settings.
  • Ability to de-escalate crises calmly and effectively and to follow established safety and escalation protocols.
  • Strong documentation skills, including clear, objective, and timely charting in electronic or paper records.
  • Working knowledge of local and regional community resources, recovery networks, and support services, or willingness to learn quickly.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all relevant privacy and ethical standards.
