The Elizabeth Fire Protection District is seeking an applicant for an open position for Employee Engagement Specialist. Elizabeth Fire Protection District is a progressive, family-oriented organization that values its members and employees. This beautiful area is quickly growing and is expected to double in population over the next two decades.

All candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration and have 3 years of human resources experience.

Summary

The Employee Engagement Specialist is responsible for a wide range of human resources and administrative duties necessary for the District operations, including but not limited to, day-to-day management of public engagement, personnel records management, and employee lifecycle and benefits management (including recruitment, retention, and departure).

Supervisor

The Employee Engagement Specialist is supervised by and reports directly to the Director of Finance & Human Resources.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages the hiring process including posting jobs, phone screening, scheduling interviews, and participating as needed in the interview process.
  • Responsible for employee onboarding and deboarding and assisting with orientation process, including but not limited to verifying employment eligibility, preparing paperwork, and data entry into the District’s records management system.
  • Responsible for employee recognition programs including but not limited to employee anniversary gift program and employee birthday program. Maintains and updates employee personnel and confidential files to ensure legal compliance. Manages employee recognition events, coordinates timely notifications, creates packets of recognition items, orders and manages inventory of recognition and retirement materials, communicates with chain of command, secures locations, prepares notices for events, provides logistical support, prepares materials and presentations, and arranges catering.
  • Manages employee benefit administration, supports annual open enrollment activities, responds to benefit inquiries, and resolves problems with employees and service providers. Administer all employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, retirement plans,…
