Regulatory Compliance Specialist, HR Generalist / Talent Management
National Jewish Health, the nation’s leading respiratory hospital, is seeking a Leave Administrator to support employees across the organization by managing leave programs and assisting with payroll operations. This role plays an important part in ensuring leave administration is accurate, compliant, and responsive while helping employees and managers navigate complex leave and workplace accommodation processes. This is a hybrid position with the opportunity to work 1 day/week remotely.
InThis Role, The Leave Administrator Will
- Administer employee leave programs including FAMLI, FMLA, ADA accommodations, disability programs, military leave, and other statutory or organizational leave programs.
- Guide employees and managers through leave eligibility, documentation requirements, and return‑to‑work processes.
- Track and manage leave activity within the HRIS system while maintaining accurate, compliant records.
- Coordinate closely with Payroll to ensure proper leave coding, pay treatment, and benefit deductions during leave periods.
- Provide operational support and backup coverage for payroll processing activities.
The Leave Administrator is responsible for administering employee leave programs in compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies. The role manages the end‑to‑end leave process, including intake, eligibility review, documentation tracking, payroll coordination, and return‑to‑work administration. The position serves as a key resource to employees and managers regarding leave options and regulatory requirements. In addition, this role provides operational support and backup coverage for payroll processing, ensuring accurate pay administration, benefit deductions, and compliance with wage‑and‑hour regulations.
EssentialDuties
- Administers employee leave programs including FAMLI, FMLA, ADA accommodations, short‑term disability, long‑term disability, military leave, and other statutory or organizational leave programs.
- Reviews leave requests to determine eligibility and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Provides employees and managers with guidance regarding leave rights, responsibilities, and available benefits.
- Coordinates required documentation including medical certifications, return‑to‑work releases, and accommodation requests.
- Tracks leave usage, intermittent leave, and return‑to‑work timelines within the UKG/HRIS system.
- Maintains accurate records and ensures all leave files meet regulatory and audit requirements.
- Coordinates with payroll to ensure accurate coding of leave in the time‑keeping system and ensures accurate pay treatment during leave periods.
- Serves as backup support for payroll processing by assisting with payroll activities including data entry, validation, and pay adjustments.
- Creates and generates leave reports, data‑tracking tools, and analytical solutions to support business needs.
- Identifies opportunities to improve leave administration processes and documentation.
- Partners with Human Resources, Finance, Budget, and other teams while providing responsive payroll support and maintaining strict confidentiality.
