The Boulder County Clerk and Recorder's Office is currently seeking a Technology Specialist to join our team. This hands‑on role supports the needs of the Elections division by providing technical support for election operations, including configuring systems, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring compliance with security protocols. The Technology Specialist will prepare and support election hardware and software, with an emphasis on Vote Center setup.

Duties include deploying equipment and supplies to offsite locations and tracking and maintaining inventory of all Elections division technology assets to ensure accuracy, readiness, and proper lifecycle tracking.

Additionally, this position completes hardware and software troubleshooting for all Clerk and Recorder divisions as needed and completes planned updates, upgrades, and installations. The county IT department will be a common resource for this role, when troubleshooting escalations or larger scale rollouts are required.

About the position

This position provides direct technical support to Clerk and Recorder staff by performing hands‑on tier 1 troubleshooting, software and hardware configuration, and end‑user support. The role is focused on, but not limited to, ensuring systems function effectively to support election operations. Adherence to security protocols and legal compliance standards is required. We seek someone who is motivated to contribute to a seamless voting experience for the public.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn, self‑motivated and able to apply new skills. They should be comfortable working with Windows‑based systems, including installing and configuring operating systems, performing updates, and verifying hardware functionality. Responsibilities include managing and maintaining accurate hardware inventory across multiple locations, troubleshooting end‑user issues, and learning and supporting office‑specific applications. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite is required, and familiarity with tools like SharePoint and endpoint or inventory management systems is helpful.

Strong communication skills are essential, particularly the ability to work patiently with users with limited technical experience and communicate technical information to non‑technical audiences.

Candidates should be comfortable following established procedures and documenting completed work and procedures accurately. This role will also involve providing procedural training and guidance to temporary technical staff during election periods as needed, while continuing to perform hands‑on technical tasks as the primary responsibility.
