The Senior Infrastructure & Network Engineer (L3) plays a pivotal role in delivering advanced technical solutions within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment. This individual is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting robust IT infrastructure and network systems that align with our clients’ business needs. As an L3 resource, you will function as a technical escalation point, oversee complex projects, and provide mentorship to junior engineers while maintaining a strong customer-centric focus.
This role demands deep technical knowledge, leadership capability, and the ability to work across multiple projects and clients. Success will be measured by technical execution, client satisfaction, project delivery, and the ability to contribute to continuous service improvement.
This is a PERMANENT position that is HYBRID in Boulder, CO.
Responsibiltiies
Project Execution & Delivery
- Lead advanced infrastructure and network deployments, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and within scope.
- Participate in pre-sales engineering discussions, translating client needs into technical solutions.
- Define success criteria for projects and track performance against them.
- Perform technical discovery, create documentation, and guide implementation based on best practices.
- Coordinate with internal and external resources to ensure smooth project execution.
Advanced Technical Support
- Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex issues involving infrastructure, networking, and security.
- Design and troubleshoot complex network configurations including VLANs, routing, firewall rules, and VPNs.
- Ensure that all systems are secure and compliant with industry standards, including best practices in Zero Trust Networking and MDR/SOC SIEM integrations.
- Provide hands-on support for server, storage, firewall, wireless, and switching environments.
Client Relationship & Communication
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, ensuring ongoing satisfaction and success.
- Manage client expectations, provide regular status updates, and proactively address risks or changes.
- Build long-term relationships through clear communication, follow-through, and technical excellence.
- Mentor L1/L2 engineers and assist with training and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop service standards, documentation, and procedures.
- Contribute to the internal technology roadmap and help evaluate new tools or platforms for operational improvement.
- Participate in hiring evaluations and promote a high-performing team culture.
Success Criteria
- Delivery of high-quality technical projects with minimal rework or escalation.
- Effective mentorship and technical development of junior team members.
- Efficient issue resolution and reduced escalations from L1/L2 engineers.
- Strong documentation and adherence to internal best practices.
Required Skills
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred)
- 7–10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and networking within an MSP or similar fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of L2/L3 networking, firewalls, routing/switching, and wireless technologies.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
Watch Guard, Fortinet, Sonic Wall, Palo Alto Networks, Aruba, Meraki, and Cisco systems. - Expertise in Microsoft environments including AD, DNS, DHCP, and hybrid cloud (Azure/M365) deployments.
- Familiarity with PSA/RMM tools such as HaloPSA, Ninja One, or similar platforms.
- Strong documentation and project tracking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or similar are preferred
