The Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) team is seeking an experienced level 2 Systems Engineer with an active Secret clearance to work from either Boulder, CO or Longmont, CO.
This Emerging Professional (level
2) role typically requires 1+ years of professional experience and a BS degree. The work includes SBIRS and the Next-Gen GEO OPIR ground stations as part of the United States missile-warning architecture, delivering near-real-time, high-confidence detection, and supporting decision-making and defense systems to protect troops, allies, and critical infrastructure worldwide. The OPIR Infrastructure Team designs, builds, and operates the ground-station platform for SBIRS and Next-Gen GEO OPIR, collaborating with infrastructure engineers and mission specialists to automate provisioning, configuration, and continuous-delivery pipelines for reliable, secure, and scalable ground systems.
- Design and implement solutions using IaC, automation tools, and Dev Sec Ops methodologies to deploy, maintain, and operate OPIR Ground System infrastructure.
- Work with software developers and test engineers to deploy, integrate, test, and support complex systems built from internally developed software across multiple environments.
- Maintain multiple technology stacks on virtualized infrastructure and ensure container baselines meet technical and security hardening requirements.
- Drive the continued improvement of the Ground System baseline through modern Dev Sec Ops standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.

Basic Qualifications- Proficiency with Git and Git-based development workflows.
- Knowledge of Ansible and/or Terraform, or familiarity with other IaC toolsets.
- Familiarity with Python, Bash, or other shell scripting languages.
- Hands-on experience using, troubleshooting, and/or administering Linux operating systems.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, communicate technical concepts, generate and maintain technical documentation, foster teamwork, and drive shared solutions.
- Active Sec+ or ability to obtain within 60-90 days of onboarding.
- Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
- Familiarity with containerization concepts and the use of Docker and/or Podman.
- Knowledge of container orchestration platforms – Kubernetes and/or Open Shift.
- Experience writing and maintaining Helm charts for deployment to the above platforms.
- Understanding of software classifications and controls (COTS, GOTS, FOSS, etc.) within secure operating environments.
- Experience with Git Lab and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Experience with static code analysis tools (Fortify, Sonar Qube, Coverity).
- Familiarity with vSphere or AWS for on-prem or cloud virtualization.
- Basic understanding of networking diagnostics and concepts.
- Prior Dev Ops or automation-focused software development background.
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and orchestration of pipelines using Git Lab or Jenkins.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time. Work will be performed onsite at a Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five-day work week; others may be condensed to provide additional time away from the office. These schedules supplement Paid Time Off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off.
