About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Laboratory Informatics Specialist to join our team. This role is central to the design, implementation, and ongoing administration of our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and supporting laboratory software infrastructure. The ideal candidate combines hands‑on technical ability with strong communication skills and a commitment to keeping complex systems running reliably and cohesively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, configure, and develop features within the organization's LIMS platform, serving as the primary subject‑matter expert for the system.
  • Manage day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of laboratory software systems, including user access, data integrity, and system performance.
  • Design and implement integrations between laboratory systems to ensure seamless data flow across the informatics ecosystem.
  • Write and maintain automation scripts for data processing, system monitoring, and workflow support.
  • Develop and maintain clear technical documentation, including system architecture, SOPs, and user guides.
  • Collaborate with laboratory scientists, IT, and management to translate operational needs into technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate resolution with vendors or internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Participate in system validation, testing, and change control processes in compliance with relevant regulatory or quality standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 5‑8 years of relevant industry experience or Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science with 1‑3 years of relevant industry or post‑doctoral experience.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and developing LIMS systems in a laboratory environment.
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and system integration tasks.
  • Strong SQL skills for database querying, reporting, and data management.
  • Experience with shell/Bash scripting for system administration and automation.
  • Excellent technical documentation skills – able to write clearly for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable working across scientific and IT teams.
  • US citizenship required.
Preferred, But Not Required
  • Experience with workflow management tools (Nextflow, Snakemake, or similar).
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Singularity).
  • Experience with git, or a similar version control system.
  • Hands‑on experience with Lab Key Server, including module configuration or Lab Key Script development.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, particularly Inductive Automation's Ignition, including tag management, scripting, or historian integration in a laboratory or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with FAIR data principles and governance, particularly with regard to ODCS contracts.
