IT Support, Systems Engineer
Job Summary
The Integrated Teaching and Learning Program (ITLP) welcomes applications for our IT Director! The director leads all IT-related responsibilities and efforts for the ITLP and for multiple other education-focused spaces and programs in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS) at the University of Colorado, Boulder. They provide strategic leadership, staff supervision and operations management for both software engineering and system engineering teams.
The director’s responsibilities include partner and customer relationships, software development lifecycle management, classroom technology and support, system integrations, application management, server administration, security management, desktop support, and oversight of the CEAS Cloud Computing platform. The director determines how the ITLP can best meet its strategic and operational goals through the acquisition and deployment of technology resources. They create, implement, and ensure compliance with IT policies and procedures in accordance with CU system and campus requirements.
They are responsible for the development, implementation, and support of all software, hardware, and data systems and applications used by the ITLP to support the myriad needs of the organization. The director collaborates with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and other groups on the Boulder campus and University Information Systems (UIS). This position reports directly to the ITLP Director and is a member of the ITLP’s senior leadership team to determine the ongoing needs and strategic direction of technology and educational initiatives in the ITLP and CEAS.

What YourKey Responsibilities Will Be
Relationship Management and Service Support Delivery
- Creates and operationalizes the overall relationship and support-management strategy for the ITLP and its ~25 professional staff and 50+ student employees who support 100,000+ engagementtouch-points with 5,000+ unique students and 130+ courses eachyear. Similarly, sets strategy for the hands-on education spaces inthe Idea Forge, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering,Integrated Design Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Williams Village.
- Develops and implements a strategy for supporting the specialized IT needs of faculty and students enrolled in courses that span 10+ departments or programs.
- Confers with other teams within the ITLP and supported units in CEAS to understand business requirements and leverage this feedback to inform strategic and daily delivery of services in the most efficient, forward-thinking and accountable way.
- Builds relationships with other programs, departments, and colleges at CU Boulder in addition to external schools, vendors, business units, and other academic support organizations to understand priorities, capabilities, and resources as they apply to engineering environments.
- Ensures delivery of high-quality, customer-focused services that are in alignment with standards in process, design,architecture, and operations and that enable the ITLP to meet its strategic goals and priorities. In partnership with the system-engineering and software-engineering technical team leads, translates user requests and finds creative solutions to technical challenges.
- Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates a multi-disciplinary team of System Engineers and Software Engineers,consisting of 5-7 professionals (direct) and numerous student employees (indirect).
- Ensures processes, procedures, and an environment of innovation and support are in place for staff positions, ensuring performance goals are met in a timely manner, project tasks are completed,independent initiative and creativity is celebrated, and cross training is in place to ensure redundancy in overall support services.
