Systems Administrator 2

Boulder Community Health is seeking a Systems Administrator 2 who is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of enterprise server systems and supporting infrastructure. This role provides hands-on systems administration across Windows server platforms, virtualization environments, and associated services to ensure reliability, performance, security, and availability of critical business systems.

As part of this role, the Systems Administrator II will have assigned responsibility for Epic infrastructure components, including Epic Web and Service Server platforms. When supporting Epic systems, this position works closely with internal technical teams and Epic Technical Services and follows Epic and vendor best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or other technology related field is preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
  • Microsoft, virtualization, or infrastructure-related certifications preferred
  • Epic Web and Service Server Administration training preferred, based on assignment.
  • A valid driver’s license required.
  • Familiarity with load balancing technologies;
    Citrix Net Scaler is preferred.
  • Minimum two years experience as system/network administrator in a large-scale environment (200+ servers) with a large user population (1000+).
  • Experience with Hypervisor virtualization
  • Experience with Citrix Xen Desktop and Citrix Xen App.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft operating systems.
  • Experience in healthcare or other regulated environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting Epic infrastructure is preferred, or the ability to achieve the ECSA certification in the first three months.

Core Systems Administration Responsibilities:

  • Design, provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain Windows server systems and related infrastructure.
  • Administer virtualized environments supporting production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production workloads.
  • Perform file system management, including permissions, access control, capacity monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Install, configure, and maintain system monitoring, management, and diagnostic tools to ensure system stability and performance.
  • Monitor system health and performance; analyze metrics and troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues.
  • Apply operating system and platform patches, updates, and upgrades in accordance with change control and maintenance procedures.
  • Participate in capacity planning to ensure adequate compute, storage, and network resources.
  • Participate in formal change management processes for planned infrastructure and application changes.
  • Maintain documentation for systems, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Respond to incidents, outages, and after-hours issues as required.

Epic Web and Service Server Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and administer Epic Web and Service Servers across production, non-production, training, reporting, and disaster recovery environments.
  • Manage Epic application deployment platforms and supporting web services in alignment with Epic architecture recommendations.
  • Support Epic printing infrastructure, including print services, queues, and related troubleshooting.
  • Monitor Epic web and service server activity for performance, availability, and potential security concerns.
