Complex Claims Consultant – Financial Lines, Public D&O

• Manage an inventory of highly complex litigated claims with large exposures
• Verify policy coverage, conduct investigations, develop resolution strategies, and authorize disbursements within authority limits
• Analyze complex coverage issues across multiple policy forms, coverages, and coverage parts
• Manage all aspects of claims while providing timely updates and responding to inquiries
• Establish reserves by interpreting policy language and estimating potential claim valuation
• Lead investigations to independently assess liability and damages
• Develop and execute claim resolution strategies with internal and external business partners
• Negotiate complex settlements and partner with counsel on complex litigation
• Participate in mediations and settlement conferences; attend trial as necessary
• Establish and manage claim budgets and oversee appropriate resources
• Identify subrogation, salvage, or potential fraud opportunities and make appropriate referrals
• Ensure claim quality, documentation, timely resolution, and timely payment
• Keep senior leadership informed of significant risks and losses through summaries and oversight lists
• Maintain subject matter expertise and compliance with state/local regulatory requirements
• Mentor, guide, develop, and deliver training to less experienced Claim Professionals
• Perform additional duties as assigned

• Advanced technical and product-specific claims expertise
• Knowledge of insurance and claims principles, practices, and procedures
• Demonstrated ability to handle litigated matters, including selecting and directing counsel
• Ability to formulate and execute claim resolution strategies and coordinate with counsel, insureds, brokers, and other insurers
• Thorough knowledge of the commercial insurance industry, products, policy language, coverage, and claim practices
• Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
• Analytical and investigative mindset with critical-thinking and sound business-decision skills
• Strong work ethic, time-management, and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-productivity environment
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex settlements
• Experience interpreting complex commercial insurance policies and coverage

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum six years of relevant experience, preferably in Professional Liability claim handling, or six years in a law firm handling Professional Liability matters
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire, where applicable
• Prior negotiation experience
• Professional designations preferred, such as CPCU
• Juris Doctorate preferred
