Deputy Risk Manager - Hybrid

The Deputy Risk Manager serves as deputy to the Director of the State of Colorado's Office of the State Controller, overseeing the self-insured liability program including litigation management, claims settlement, and contract administration. The position manages the state's insurance broker relationships, negotiates liability claim settlements, supervises administrative staff, and provides risk management consulting to state agencies and higher education institutions participating in the Risk Management Pool.

• At least 7 years of relevant experience in risk management and/or insurance management and consulting
• Previous state or public entity experience in risk management or general liability insurance
• Comprehensive knowledge of various risk management programs (worker's compensation, property, liability, auto/equipment) rules, regulations, and best practices
• Proven ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and projects in a demanding environment
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong communication abilities
