- Investigate, negotiate, evaluate, and appraise vehicle damage claims for repairable and total loss vehicles
- Evaluate and appraise highly complex auto physical damage claims using digital tools and in accordance with contracts, corporate guidelines, and state laws and regulations
- Investigate claim damages by communicating with insureds, internal claims adjusters, and third parties/vendors, including possible face-to-face interactions
- Review facts of loss and vehicle damage to identify subrogation opportunities and maintain supporting documentation
- Apply advanced knowledge of P&C insurance products, services, contracts, and internal processes to ensure compliance
- Review claims and suppliers for fraud indicators and refer applicable cases to the Special Investigations Unit
- Maintain accurate and current claim file documentation throughout the claims process
- Manage workload, perform timely follow-ups, and accurately map repair plans and repair timelines
- Review additional damage from repair facilities, complete supplements, or triage inspections to field providers
- Serve as a subject matter expert for disputed claims or trials and support team members on escalated issues
- Partner with vendors and internal business partners to resolve high-complexity claims and coordinate with external regulators when needed
- Provide policyholders with coverage, repair estimate, total loss valuation, and claims/repair process information
- Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations, including mandatory on-call dates and possible evening, weekend, and holiday work
- Travel on CAT deployments with minimal notice when assigned
- Handle various claim types and additional duties as needed
- Identify, measure, monitor, and control business risks in accordance with risk and compliance policies
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
- 2 years of auto appraising experience
- Proficient knowledge of P&C insurance policy contracts and coverages, auto parts distribution process and claim appraisal process and procedures
- Advanced working knowledge of estimating losses using CCC or similar estimating platforms
- Demonstrated written and verbal skills to communicate with members, claimants, repair facilities, and other internal and external stakeholders
- Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts
- May require ability to operate a company vehicle within assigned territory
- May require ability to reach, handle, squat, bend, climb, and kneel to complete inspections of damaged vehicles
- May require ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions
- May be exposed to working in body shop and/or salvage yard environments up to 25% of the time
- May require ability to meet all USAA safe driving requirements, including verification of driving record through MVR and possession of valid driver's license
- Active Texas or Florida All-Lines Adjusters License
- I-CAR Pro Level 3 (Platinum) certification or actively pursuing Pro Level 3
- Experience as a Field Auto Appraiser with a Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance carrier
- US military experience gained through military service or gained as a military spouse / domestic partner
- Must be willing and able to work in Boulder, CO and/or the greater Denver, CO metro area
- Must not require immigration support or visa sponsorship now or in the future
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance products and the auto appraisal process, with strong communication skills to effectively interact with policyholders, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Proficient in using estimating platforms and managing complex claims while ensuring compliance with regulations.
