The Director of Logistic Operations directs operational activities for regional sites via partnerships with site General Managers. This role will act as a liaison between the organization and client, manages complex customer relationships, and is responsible for analyzing and identifying value-added services that match customer needs with solution selling. The position drives long range plans for customer sites to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations, while maximizing profits through actions that align with Kenco’s guiding principles.
Significant travel is required.
- Execute and aid in forming the vision for the network and translate the company vision downstream to sites and employees.
- Identify new business opportunities and maximize revenue and margins with existing customers by developing and maintaining customer relationships. Take ownership of the customer relationship through transparent and proactive communication cadence.
- Facilitate monthly and quarterly business reviews that showcases performance, value-add, challenges, etc.
- Oversee and continuously evaluate the day-to-day site performance against established KPI's. Introduce new KPI's and measurements where possible to amplify insight and impact.
- Meet regularly, at least once a month, with all assigned General Managers to ensure continuous line of sight of daily operations.
- Drive industry leading safety initiatives throughout the network to reduce operational risks and foster a culture of safety.
- Develop and maintain customer profiles and routinely review business issues, organizational structure, opportunities, information flow, competitor environment, processes, and contracts. Cascade improvements provided during the review.
- Build business cases and present complete proposals and value solutions for our customers that align with the customer objectives.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and training to all employees within the operation. Work with Learning & Development (L&D) for the strategic development of staff that align with the organization’s goals.
- Direct the implementation of new programs and processes while working cross functionally with other business groups within the organization.
- Using Lean Six Sigma tools, regularly assess site capabilities for improved efficiency, safety, quality, and financial performance where possible.
- Regularly visit sites and establish a management presence that is aligned with Kenco principles.
- Other applicable duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business management, logistics, or related field required; M.B.A. preferred.
- 8-10 years of supply chain management, business management or logistics experience required; regulatory experience preferred for some but not all sites.
- 3-5 years of logistic site leadership with budgetary experience required.
- Lean Six Sigma and/or Supply Chain certification or training preferred.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the proven ability to maximize team performance and development required.
- Robust understanding of supply chain strategies required.
- Strong customer relationship skills; ability to balance and manage customers’ expectations while aligning with corporate goals.
- Strong problem-solving ability, planning/organization skills, and decision-making ability.
- Ability to communicate and articulate professionally, in both speech and writing.
- Interpersonal influence skills
