Summary:

This position functions to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment for students and staff by performing custodial work that relates to the general upkeep and sanitation at varying BVSD facilities depending on the need. Cleaning is performed according to the standard found in written manuals, written and verbal instructions, safety data sheets (SDS), Health Department Standards and State Rules and Regulations.

• Clean areas of the building such as classrooms, offices, student and staff bathrooms, stairwells, cafeteria, hallways, library, etc., using proper cleaning practices and procedures and using custodial equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Remove trash from the building and from outside trash containers and place into the dumpster.
• Must be willing and able to commute to assigned schools/locations within the school district on a routine basis.
• Report to head custodian or lead custodian regarding maintenance/safety issues, custodial supplies and equipment needs.
• Secure the building. Lock classroom and office doors, close windows and turn off lights.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
• Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
• Must pass pre-employment background screenings.
• Must pass post offer physical.
• Ability to be on feet up to eight hours every day.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including heavy lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional dual lifts up to 100 pounds; requires ability to frequently reach, lift, bend and stoop; may occasionally require climbing ladders or crawling.
