GMP Building Engineer (Full‑Time)
OverviewThe client is seeking a GMP Building Engineer to perform complex preventive and corrective maintenance on critical GMP utility systems, equipment, and facility infrastructure at a large on‑site pharmaceutical facility. This role works with limited supervision to monitor, troubleshoot, and operate building and industrial systems to ensure compliance with cGMP, GDP, FDA regulations, SOPs, and site safety requirements.
Compensation$42.00 - $53.00 per hour, potential $3,000 sign‑on bonus, and potential relocation assistance. M‑F core hours, onsite.
Responsibilities- Strictly comply with all applicable cGMP, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), FDA regulations, company SOPs, and site safety requirements.
- Inspect, operate, and maintain critical and non‑critical systems, including:
- HVAC and environmental control systems
- Wastewater systems
- Compressed gas systems
- Life safety systems
- Plumbing and general facility infrastructure
- Ensure all systems operate within design specifications and maintain required environmental conditions for GMP compliance.
- Oversee, manage, and inspect work performed by outside contractors, ensuring adherence to site safety, GMP standards, and SOPs. Contractor scope may include landscaping, snow removal, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and janitorial services.
- Perform assigned corrective repairs, preventive maintenance (PM) tasks, and emergency repairs.
- Accurately complete maintenance documentation, including logbooks and CMMS entries in strict compliance with GDP.
- Maintain building and cleanroom lighting systems, including ballast and element replacement, while minimizing disruption and supporting environmental recovery in classified spaces.
- Perform minor welding, carpentry, furniture assembly, and locksmith tasks as required, following approved procedures for GMP production and laboratory environments.
- Respond promptly to critical utility alarms and emergency situations, escalating and coordinating support per established emergency response SOPs.
- Participate in investigations related to facility or equipment deviations and assist in implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
- Perform other duties as assigned, with a constant focus on maintaining facility control, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
- 5 years of verifiable HVAC, refrigeration, and chiller experience, preferably in an industrial, pharmaceutical, or other critical environment.
- 2 years of experience working under cGMP regulations, including GDP and general regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA).
- Demonstrated ability to perform all responsibilities listed above.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and/or SCADA systems.
