Position Overview
The Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Development reports to the Vice Chancellor for Advancement and leads fundraising strategy across several programmatic areas, including parent giving, campus wide programs, chancellor initiatives, industry and foundation relations, campus institutes, and gift planning.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and oversee fundraising and engagement strategies for parent giving, campus wide programs, chancellor initiatives, industry and foundation relations, campus institutes, and gift planning.
- Manage a portfolio of principal ($3M+) and major ($50K+) gifts; identify, lead, and pursue fundraising opportunities aligned with institutional priorities.
- Coordinate with campus and system leaders (provost, vice chancellors, etc.) to set unit and campus fundraising goals and ensure alignment with the comprehensive campaign.
- Oversee advancement teams supporting the twelve campus institutes; maintain fiscal prudence and productive operations.
- Lead and mentor advancement leaders (4‑8 direct/indirect reports), provide performance reviews, career growth, and staff development.
- Serve on the Advancement leadership team, provide strategic insights, resource management, and lead regular meetings with campus leadership.
- Master’s degree, J.D., or equivalent; advanced degree or certifications preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of progressive responsibility in advancement development, including supervisory experience and major/principal gift fundraising.
- Proven record of developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies with measurable revenue growth.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and staff development skills.
- Experience managing and mentoring advancement functions (parent giving, campus wide initiatives, chancellor priorities, industry relations, foundation relations, campus institutes).
- Demonstrated empathy, cross‑cultural competencies, and commitment to equity in fundraising.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- High integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, donor management systems, Salesforce, Zoom, Linked In, and ChatGPT.
Annual salary range: $215,000‑$235,000. Final offer based on qualifications.
