Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC) is a nonprofit organization that helps young adults build skills, education, and career pathways through meaningful service opportunities. MHYC Corps members support communities across Colorado through programs focused on construction, conservation, and workforce development. The Sustainable Trades Pathways (STP) program at MHYC is a 20-week pre-apprenticeship opportunity designed to prepare young adults for careers in construction related trades.

STP Corps members serve Metro Denver residents through hands‑on projects, including installing efficiency upgrades in homes. Corps members serve in teams using MHYC vehicles, tools, and materials while gaining real-world experience. Members also engage in classroom, online, and hands‑on training connected to career pathways such as HVAC, solar, residential efficiency, and/or environmental sustainability. Corps members can earn industry-recognized certifications including OSHA-10, CPR/First Aid, and other technical credentials while building leadership, career readiness, and workforce skills.

This is an Ameri Corps funded position.

Member Duties
  • Sustainable Trades - Provide high-quality customer service to low-income households across the Denver Metro area through affordable housing construction, sustainability initiatives, and other community-based projects. Corps members will support residential retrofitting and conservation projects by completing household visits, installing high-efficiency lights, toilets, thermostats, and water‑saving fixtures. Corps members will also receive hands‑on training and gain work‑based learning experiences connected to sustainable trades and related career pathways.
  • The Community - Provide support and complete service projects with affordable housing partners, sustainability initiatives, and other local nonprofits and community organizations. Projects may include residential retrofitting, solar and energy efficiency projects, community gardens, food banks, neighborhood clean‑ups, and other community‑based service activities.
