Veterinary Assistant (Part Time) – North Boulder Companion Animal Hospital
Pet Vet Care Centers' North Boulder Companion Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant (Part Time) to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, including cleanliness, patient care, equipment maintenance, and administrative duties.
Position OverviewAs a Veterinary Assistant, you will provide compassionate care to all patients, assist with surgeries, routine examinations, and client education, and help maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide compassionate care to all patients.
- Greet patients and owners, take weight, vital signs upon arrival.
- Assist with physical exams, treatments, medication administration as directed by licensed veterinary technicians.
- Calm and soothe anxious patients.
- Assist doctors and technicians with medication administration or patient restraint.
- Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment (EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, anesthetic monitors).
- Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, maintain controlled drugs documentation.
- Feed patients as prescribed, record appetites, and report unusual conditions.
- Communicate positively with clients and ensure their comfort.
- Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and medicinal plans.
- Maintain hospital cleanliness, including equipment, kennels, and facilities; ensure safe chemical use; complete laundry.
- Bath and care for patients staying overnight; ensure each animal released is clean and groomed.
- Adhere to safety and wellness regulations, follow oral and written directions.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Show up for work regularly; full-time presence essential for every shift.
- Promote hospital products and services and support the organization.
- Respond promptly to directions from DVM or LVT.
- Perform duties assigned by the Manager; may cover specialty areas such as dentistry, surgery, emergency, radiology, cardiology, neurology, or internal medicine.
- Willingness to be trained.
- Some experience in veterinary medicine or boarding preferred.
Some weekday shifts; must be available to work weekends, especially Saturdays.
