Summary

The Crew Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily work of the groundskeeping team and the crew responsible for preparing and stocking the Royal Gorge Route Railroad train prior to each departure, as well as post‑departure maintenance. This position ensures that both the railroad’s guest‑facing grounds and onboard train readiness meet the high standards expected by guests visiting one of Colorado’s premier scenic rail, dining and lodging experiences.

This role requires a hands‑on, organized, can‑do leader who can coordinate teams, maintain efficient workflows, and ensure that train operations are properly supported before and after every departure while also maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of the railroad’s outdoor spaces, lodging properties and the Royal Gorge Mansion.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise, schedule and coordinate the work of groundskeepers and train preparation staff
    .
  • Maintain excellent, organized communications, and positive, collaborative, constructive relationships with leadership team on a daily basis.
  • Work side‑by‑side with direct reports throughout each day, demonstrating, mentoring and monitoring maintenance whenever and wherever needed.
  • Lead teams who ensure the train is fully stocked, cleaned, and prepared before each departure, and well maintained following each departure.
  • Oversee the setup and staging of food, beverage, service items, and supplies required for train service.
  • Maintain the grounds, landscaping, and outdoor appearance of Royal Gorge Route Railroad properties and the Royal Gorge Mansion grounds.
  • Assign daily tasks and ensure crews complete work efficiently and safely.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies needed for train service preparation and stocking

  • Train and mentor crew members on procedures, safety standards, and expectations.
  • Inspect work areas throughout each day to ensure guest‑facing spaces are clean, organized, and ready for operations
    .
  • Assist with landscaping work including mowing, trimming, irrigation monitoring, and seasonal planting when needed.
  • Coordinate with operations, culinary, and hospitality teams to ensure timely train departures and proper onboard service preparation
    .
  • Support setup and breakdown of outdoor areas for events and special functions
    .
  • Maintain and monitor equipment used by the grounds and prep teams.
  • Enforce safety procedures and ensure proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in the hospitality or tourism industries preferred.
