At Southern Rockies Animal Emergency & Specialty Hospital, you'll have the opportunity to build a thriving surgical service within a fast-growing specialty and emergency hospital backed by a busy 24/7 emergency department and a dedicated referral network. This is an ideal opportunity for a surgeon looking to step into an established caseload, practice advanced medicine, and help shape the future of specialty care in southern Colorado.
Our AAHA-accredited specialty hospital is home to experienced Emergency clinicians, an Internist who comes in for consultations, and we have a Neurologist joining the team. We are also licensed to provide Radiation Therapy services, creating exceptional opportunities for multidisciplinary case management and collaboration.

- Balance time between consultations, case workups, and surgical procedures across a diverse mix of orthopedic and soft tissue cases.
- Perform advanced surgical procedures utilizing state-of-the‑art equipment, imaging technology, and minimally invasive surgical capabilities.
- Collaborate with Emergency, Cardiology, Radiology, Rehabilitation, Neurology, and Radiation Therapy teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Help shape and grow the surgical service in alignment with hospital goals and community needs.
- Work alongside highly trained emergency clinicians who provide valuable support for after‑hours surgical case management.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and shared treatment planning for complex referral patients.
- Mentor technicians and support staff while fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and clinical excellence.
- Work alongside a dedicated surgical nursing and support team.
- Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.
- DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for Colorado veterinary licensure.
- Board Certification in Surgery (DACVS) or Residency Trained in Surgery.
- Experience or interest in both orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.
- Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client‑centered approach.
