Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). Temporary position (9 months or less) – pay $16.50 per hour, depending on experience, Spring 2026 through Fall 2026. Submit only your application (no resumes or cover letters). The posting will remain open until filled.
This position supports CPW staff in protecting, preserving, enhancing, and managing the habitat of several state wildlife areas in Area 14, including Flagler SWA, Hugo SWA, Karval Reservoir SWA, Kinney Lake SWA, and Ramah Reservoir SWA. The Wildlife Technician IV supervises this role. Work is performed under the supervision of Wildlife Property Technicians, District Wildlife Managers, and biologists as they implement habitat improvement projects and other wildlife‑related responsibilities.
The focus is on routine maintenance of state wildlife areas, irrigation infrastructure, public facilities, and equipment, as well as maintaining buildings and facilities.
- Tree and willow planting
- Fence building and maintenance
- General maintenance and cleaning of public facilities, including restrooms, vault toilets, campsites, picnic areas, and trails
- Mowing and trimming operations
- Operation of tractors and mowing equipment
- Operation of forestry equipment
- Operation of herbicide application equipment
- Routine maintenance of state‑owned vehicles and equipment
- Assurance of quality customer service and facility maintenance, repair, and cleanliness
- May assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and transporting materials and supplies
- Maintaining a working knowledge of and safely operating all relevant equipment and tools, including tractors, mowers, chainsaws, power saws, drills, air compressors, generators, spray equipment, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned
There is only one position available. The position is up to 40 hours per week and up to nine months in duration. Pay is fixed and will not change during the season. Hiring and firing is at the supervisor’s discretion.
Requirements- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a current motor vehicle report
- Willing to work outside during inclement weather
- Knowledge of power tools and hand tools preferred
- Knowledge of small engines and other equipment maintenance and repair preferred
- Must be able to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Possess strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work with little to no supervision
- Physical activities requiring considerable arm and leg use, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials
- Must be able to lift 50–75 pounds repeatedly during a single workday
- Outdoors, exposed to weather
