Job Summary

The Bates Lab is seeking a postdoctoral fellow who will measure and analyze emissions of volatile organic compounds from agriculture during the NASA Farm Flux campaign.

Who We Are

The postdoctoral fellow will join the Bates Lab in Mechanical Engineering at CU Boulder, a group of researchers using diverse modeling and measurement techniques to study the sources, fates, and impacts of organic compounds in the atmosphere. The fellow will also work closely with the Tropospheric Chemistry group at NOAACSL.

What Your

Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Carry out research tasks related to the measurement and analysis of volatile organic compounds during NASA s Farm Flux campaign.
  • Prepare, set up, and calibrate the NOAA CSL LToF-PTR-MS; operate the instrument for the Farm Flux large aircraft deployments.
  • Process and analyze data during and after deployments, including calculation of eddy covariance fluxes from measured concentrations.
  • Participate in Farm Flux science team meetings; disseminate results to the scientific community through publications and conference presentations.

The starting salary for this appointment is $70,000 annually.

What We Require
  • Ph.D. in atmospheric chemistry or a closely related field; prior experience with airborne field deployments for atmospheric measurements.
